How are our Year 7 students settling into Chesterfield High School life?
Student surveys have been sent out to all year 7 students to ascertain how they have transitioned from primary school and settled into Chesterfield High School. Below details the results of this survey;
Year 7 Transition Survey: At the time of writing this, we had an 89% response rate (239 / 270 students) with the following results:
95% of students’ state that they have settled well into school.
97% of students’ state that they have made some friends.
94% of students’ state that they are happy whilst they are in school.
97% of students’ state that they feel safe when they are in school.
97% of students’ state that they know who to go to if they need help with anything.
98% of students’ state that they would recommend the school to others.
95% of students’ state that behaviour around the school is good.
95% of students’ state that behaviour in school is good.
Any student whom answered a question with a concerning response has (or if recently completed, is) being followed up by the Progress Leader or the Student Support Manager to resolve issues. The few students whom Progress Leaders or Student Support Managers have spoken to so far have commented that they answered this survey within the first few weeks of school and hence now feel they have settled in, have now made some friends, know who to go to for help etc. The few students who felt the behaviour was not good commented that it is because a few individuals in their class have had detentions.
Overall, we hope that by obtaining our students views & following up any necessary responses helps to ensure our students are happy, have settled into Chesterfield High School well and feel safe whilst they are in school. We will continue to seek the views of our students and other key stakeholders as the year progresses.
