Sixth Form update 1.4.16

The past 2 weeks has seen Sixth Form tutor groups holding their ‘Charity Fortnight’ fundraising activities.  Each tutor group nominated a charity and competed against each other to raise money and awareness.  A wide variety of events including cake sales, raffles, a red themed mufti day and Year 7 disco were held.  Final totals are still being counted however hundreds of pounds have already been raised. Although the fundraising was led by the Sixth Form, all Year Groups were encouraged to be involved, showing the real community spirit of Chesterfield High School.

A group of Year 12 and 13 students attended a Careers event at Goodison Park on Thursday where they were able to meet with a wide range of employers to discuss opportunities after Sixth Form.

Stella Kirkpatrick from Year 12 visited Magdalene College, Cambridge this week for a 3 day residential.  She is hoping to study at Cambridge and is currently deciding on her subject choice.

Amber Brown from Year 12 was the recipient of the ‘Special Recognition for Inspirational Young Person’ award at the Sefton Youth Mental Health Awards organized by Sefton CVS.  She was presented with the award at the Floral Hall in Southport on Wednesday. Congratulations Amber!

A number of Sixth Form students are heading off on the school Ski trip to Austria, we wish them a safe journey and a wonderful visit.

Year 12 Reports will be arriving in the post imminently.  Students, particularly those with examinations coming up, are urged to take note of the advice from teachers to assist with their revision and study over the holiday period.

Finally, we say a temporary farewell to Mrs Dunning, 13Y’s form tutor, as she goes on her Maternity leave.  We wish her lots of luck and look forward to hearing all about her new arrival in the coming weeks.  As Mrs Dunning departs we welcome Miss Alman, who will be covering her Maternity leave, to the Sixth Form team.
